My sister kicked me very hard in the shin and a bruise and bump started to form. What do I do. She also had hard toed converse shoes on. Which made the impact worse. It hurts slightly to step but it s near the upper middle portion of my shin. Hurts most to put even a little pressure on it

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to formation of local haematoma. Applying ice pack will be helpful for this. You can apply 15 to 20 minutes off and on. This can be repeated 3 to 4 times daily. Over the counter analgesics like ibuprofen ( motrin ) will be helpful for relieving pain and inflammation also. If no improvement then approach your doctor. X ray will be required in such case to rule out any crack or fracture. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
