My hubby is in the worst pain of his life. I fear he has an infection that is affecting not only his mouth but his entire face. He is so swollen in side his mouth that his gums are taking over the inside line between the gums and side of his mouth. What can I do to help get the swelling down and help eliviate some of his pain...please help!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swollen face and gums which occurs due to dental/ periodontal abscess leading to collection of pus and debris in gums. I would suggest you to take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprufen/acetaminophen can be taken to reduce swelling. You should do warm saline gargles. You should apply lignocaine gel as it will give numbing effects. Visit your dental surgeon/ periodontist and get x-ray done to confirm the cause & give you a specific diagnosis. You should go for scaling of localized area and can go for root canal treatment as well if it is due to particular tooth.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
