Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have a swollen knee joint after haveing had an arthroscopy nearly 8 weeks ago.The menial meniscus was repaired and I believe loose tissue was cleaned out: I also have a bad sprain on the collateral ligament ,the injury occured on 25-2 12 a large dog ran into me.The swelling is preventing me from fully being able to bend the knee and restricts my ability to walk properly etc.Have you any sugestions for this condition?
As you underwent an arthroscopy, did you do exercises post the surgery? If not, I will advise you to undergo knee rehabilitation program post Arthroscopy. Swelling will be there due to irritation to the soft tissues. With simple knee exercises like static quadriceps and static hamstring, the strength will regain and remove the swelling. Knee range of motion will also improve. Do balance board training and also some squatting in low intensity will help regain knee functions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
