welcome to hcm, welcome to hcm, short answer: apply silverex ointment in the burnt area and cover it with a sterile gauze. dont break the blisters(swellen parts) it will be the source of infection. detailed answer: as a matter of first aid you have applied cold water in the burns. but it must not be ice cold and it must be a cool water. the burs are classified into 1st degree 2nd degree and 3rd degree burns. from your saying that blisters have appeared tells that it is a second degree burns. if this is less than 3 inches in diameter, cover the burnt area now with a sterile gauze. you can also apply silverex ointment also . these application makes a protective layer over the skin and help in the healing process. if the burnt area is deep (3rd degree) or the burnt area is large it is usually not advisable to pour cool water. it will cause hypothermia low blood pressure and shock. Feel free to ask your queries if you have doubt. regards Dr.Amarnath
