Hi dear,
Thanks for choosing healthcare magic.
According to medical guidelines that Doctors follow,
epididymitis is treated with antibiotics to eradicate the bacteria and NSAIDs such as
ibuprofen (
Advil) to reduce inflammation and pain on the area infected.
For your case I would advice you to follow other supportive care that you can do at home to help reduce inflammation and pain.
Such as Scrotal elevation (try to sleep on your back while you put a pillow under buttocks to your lower back to help elevate your
scrotum above heart. Ice pack compression has also shown good results in reducing inflammation. You can put some ice around a towel and hold it on your scrotum for at least 20 to 30 minute.
These two methods in addition to Advil must help reduce swelling.
Important note: if you see that swelling is getting worse and symptoms coming back after a week or two of treatment makes sure to revisit your
urologist for further evaluation.
Hope this helped
If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask.
Wishing you all the best.
