Hello and welcome to HCM
if the tooth is decayed then you must get it treated.
Mostly your tooth is in chonic stage thats why you are not gettin any pain.but it can cause you pain anytime.
Ask your dentist whether that tooth can be saved through root canal treatment (RCT) or not.otherwise you can get it removed.Dont worry about the pain as the tooth removal will be done by making that area numb.you will not feel pain.

Hope this answer helps.

Thank you for your query,

The tooth in question is decayed and the enamel is chipping off, which you feel in your oral cavity.
Usually the chipping of enamel does not lead to pain but only sensitivity but in your case as it is chronic the tooth has tried to save itself by blocking the dentine.
I would advise you to extract the tooth asap, as this fractured tooth will lead to dental sores in tongue, oral mucosa etc. Also it can be retrieved complete otherwise if broken more it will come out in bit and pieces.

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The chipped part can be a fractured tooth piece. The decayed tooth might be having chronic pulpitis, in this case the tooth will be asymptomatic, once it gets infected you will get pain and swelling. The infection can get aggravated any time, particularly, when your stress level goes up or when your immunity comes down. So, If i am your treating doctor, I would suggest you to get the tooth removed prophylactically, when it is not in a condition to save. Nothing to be panic, extraction procedure is a simple surgical procedure done under local anesthesia. Be bold and get it done.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
