Suggest Remedy For Worms In Stools

Hello, My son is 3.6yrs old. I recently noticed white tiny worms in his stool. So after consulting a paediatric doctor, gave him zentel 10ml after dinner. The next day afternoon, when he passed motion,i could still notice a live worm. So does this mean the medicine was ineffective or the infection is severe.should dose be repeated?

Thanks for your question. 80% of this medication (assuming it was praziquantel) is absorbed orally within 9 hours. I am not sure if this was the amount of time between "after dinner" and the "next day afternoon," but if it was more than that, then he may need an additional dose OR different medication. I would check with the prescribing doctor, as its hard to make a medication recommendation not knowing the exact type of worm your son has (the doctor should have checked a stool sample) and the exact medication, as there is no generic medication called "Zentel" I am aware of. Your son should have a stool sample sent to pathology to identify the exact worm and then a proper medication should be prescribed.
