Suggest Remedy To Prevent Recurring Cough At Night
Not able to sleep due to pesky cough that begins right before I fall asleep. Cause and Prevention? It started a few nights ago but has gotten worse. During the day I dont cough at all, however at night before I fall asleep a dry pesky cough starts, giving me a difficult time falling asleep. No other symptoms accompany this cough, however I ve lost significant amounts of sleep due to the cough.
I think the cough is due to allergy or any sore throat. However, you need to rule out lung infection, so you need to run a physical examination by your primary doctor. If lungs and throat are clear, then, it might be due to stomach hyperacidity issues (acid reflux).
Further abdominal ultrasound and upper endoscopy advised to rule it out. Meanwhile, I can only suggest to gargle with warm water and salt frequently during the day, especially before bedtime. Take antihistamine at bedtime.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
