Suggest Remedy To Reduce The Puffiness In Eyelids Caused Due To Smearing Of Bleach

Hi! Bleach got smeared to my upper and lower eyelids last Monday morning. Yesterday it was a little puffy so I washed it with soap and running water twice, then I applied Triple Antibiotic Ointment. It was still puffy today, so I washed it again and applied the same ointment. Now the puffiness has increased and it feels wet. My eye is almost closed. I don t have insurance. My vision seems to be Ok. Is there anything else I can use to reduce the swelling and what eyedrops can I use ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From your symptoms,it seems that you are having anaphylaxis(Kind of allergic reaction).

You ll need to have an anti-inflammatory like aceclofenac and serratiopeptidase,
along with an anti-allergic like levocetrizine and a mast cell stabilizer like montelukast in the required dosage.
If the inflammation still persists, then a steroid like deflazacort ll also have to be added.

You can apply an eye drop containing ciprofloxacin.

Make sure to perform a skin test the next time you bleach to prevent any such allergic reactions.
Take care
