Good morning and welcome. You are on a steroid drug, cortisone based, and a typical side-effect is the formation of what we call the "moon face' which should go away when you stop taking the drug.
Monitor your sodium intake and keep it down to 2300 mg which ist about 1 tsp. of table salt, sodium chloride. That will reduce the common edema weight gain also associated with your medication.
The medication will cause you to have a very good appetite. Control this. Small frequent meals with planned low calorie snacks. Be ready for this. You might have to lower your calories and defininitely implement an exercise program to prevent the inevitable weight gain.
thank you for coming and I hope to speak with you again. I have a specialist portal you can feel free to use for any type of nutritional consultation here at HCM or in my tele- office in the US. Kind Regards, Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
