Suggest Safe Methods For Abortion
dear drs. We have one 9th month old baby and my wife not got the period and went to gynacologist says that positive. The first born baby by operation. My wife is very thin and we are not in a position to take 2nd baby now. Her last period was septeber 8th 2011. please let me know which is the best and safe method for abortion. Please give the best advise which will not affect to my wife health.

According to WHO report medical abortion by mifeprstone followed by misoprostol is safe and effective abortion method if done under the guidance and supervision of gynecologist. Investigation required before abortion: USG (for confirmation of intrauterine pregnancy), pelvic examination, Hb.
Method for abortion up to 9 week of pregnancy:
1. Mifepristone & misoprostol: 200 mg mifepristone should be followed by 400 ug misoprostol vaginally/orally after 48 hour, another 400 ug dose after 4 hour if needed.
2. Misoprostol only: 800 ug every 6-8 hourly maximum up to 3 dose under supervision of gynecologist
3. Surgical procedure like suction evacuation.
Follow up USG after 14 days to confirm the completeness of abortion process. Mild cramps, bleeding more than period, tiredness, diarrhea and headache are common side effects last for 4-5 days will occur.
So mifepristone followed by misoprostol is safe effective step for medical termination of pregnancy if done under gynecologist's advice and supervision.
