Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I HAVE BEEN TAKING OXYCODONE SINCE 1/1/2012 and next week going to a physician nw that I moved away from Charlottesville and now near Sarasota. I did not elect the spinal fusion surgery a year ago after the surgeon told me of the dangers of a heart attack or paralysis. I am very concerned about the side effects of the drug being a loss of memory, depression or others. What side effects would you want to warn about?Appreciatively,Mark
Hello and thank you for your question. The most common side effects of oxycodone are drowsiness and constipation. It can also cause mental slowing and worsen depression. It is also possible that it can cause respiratory depression and significant withdrawal symptoms if withdrawn or stopped abruptly. However, many people with significant pain tolerate the drug well with minimal symptoms.
