Suggest Substitutes For Metronidazole 500mg 3X And Ciprofloxacin HCL 500mg
After appendix surgery with bad infection (gangrene) I have been prescribed Metronidazole 500 mg 3X/day for the past 3 days, and I still have 3 more days. I haven t been able to eat anything except crackers and peanut butter, and my throat and stomach burn. I have taken antacids but even they no longer help. I also am taking ciprofloxacin HCL 500 mg 2X a day. Symptoms are as described above, so I am uncertain which drug is causing them. Can another drug be substituted for either of these prescriptions? I am unable to eat any regular food and feel nauseous and unable to do anything but rest between doses.
Metronidazol and Ciprofloxacin can cause stomach pain and stomach upset. You can't stop using antibiotics because the infection may be worse and resistant to other antibiotics. You should consult with your doctor if the pain persist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
