Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How much kolopin is the amount for tardive disconisure? My doctor won t prescribe it because he says it is bad for my kidneys. I am in a bad way with this and was going to go to my regular doctor to see if she would prescribe it. I don t have bad kidneys. I don t know the amount. YYYY@YYYY
The typical dose of Klonopin for tardive dyskinesia is usually 1mg per day at first, which can be increased by 1 mg every 3 to 4 days up to a maximum of 4.5 mg/day if needed.
Normally Klonopin does not affect the kidneys at all, but it is highly habit-forming, and once patients start taking it, it is often very difficult to stop it, and your doctor may want to avoid prescribing it for that reason.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
