Suggest The Ideal Dosage For Paracetamol Taken For Typhoid
Hi Doctor, my father, age 58 got diagnosed with typhoid fever in mid August this year. In recent blood test, he was found positive. From 22nd Sep we have been giving him Paracetamol and Cifixime. Now he does not have fever. Shall i continue the dose of Paracetamol? I am seeing that its a really high dose of 650 mg.
If he feels generally well he does not need the Paracetamol, it was probably prescribed for the fever or body aches. Just as a note, if he has no other health problems, 650 mg every 6 hours or so was an acceptable dose, healthy adults can do up to 1000 mg every 6 hours.
Be sure to complete the course of antibiotics, and repeat a stool sample in another two weeks or so to make sure it's completely gone.
Hope this helps, and all the best to your father and you.
Regards, Dr. Teh
