Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My name is Mona Mohsem and i am 33 years old. My blood group is O- with high antibodies titer. My husband is O+. I have 4 kids and one abortion. My last kids suffer from high jaundice and blood heamolysis due to the high antibody titer (RH disease).
Recently we did genotyping for my husband in Qatar and he was heterozygous. Therefore there is a chance to have an O- baby without any problems for the baby during pregnancy.
I want to do IVF to select an O- baby boy "to choose the sex and the blood group" before pregnancy by PGD or other ways, is that possible in your hospital? or can you help me to choose a hospital that can offer me this procedure.
Jaundice is usually sign of certain liver disease and high bilirubin value. Causes of jaundice vary from non-serious to potentially fatal. Levels of bilirubin in blood are normally below 1.0 mg/dL (17 µmol/L) and levels over 2-3 mg/dL (34-51 µmol/L) typically results in jaundice. High bilirubin may be due to liver diseases such as cirrhosis or hepatitis, infections, medications, or blockage of the bile duct In the developed world the cause is more often blockage of the bile duct or medications.
Blockage of the bile duct may occur due to gallstones, cancer, or pancreatitis. Medical imaging such as ultrasound is useful for detecting bile duct blockage.Treatment of jaundice is typically determined by the underlying cause. If a bile duct blockage is present surgery is typically required, otherwise management is medical. Medical management may involve treating infectious causes and stopping medication that could be contributing.
