Can I chat with a specialist that is an expert at alcohol withdrawal. My father has been an alcoholic for a very long time. He recently gave up without seeking any medical intervention. However, after a few days of giving it up, he started feeling highly anxious. He has a lumpy feeling in his abdomen. Feels sad. it has been almost 3 weeks that he has given up. Although he is able to catch up sleep during the night for 5-6 hours; he tends to wake up around 4 am. He gets irritated easily at times. He feels abdominal discomfort after having food and is unable to lie down straight. He uses a bean bag to sleep. Please suggest what can be done to help him. Recently he went to a GP who recorded his BP as normal. He suggested Daizepam (5mg) which my father has not taken because somebody told him that the drug can get addictive. Please suggest a suitable course of action to help him out smoothly. He has consulted a homeopath also who had given some pills. He is unsure though if they would help. Please help!
