Suggest Treatment For Citrobacter Freundii

yes i have citrodacter freundii that is in my sinus cavity. I had a tooth pulled 3 yrs ago on top left close to sinus cavity. The hole Never close, so I had 1 sinus surgery where they placed a stent and was not successful, then had oral surgery to try and close the hole. Went a whole year, no problems but could still blow air out when i would just blow with my mouth closed. About a month ago i got a sight cold and the walls came tumbling down all over, it has the worse smell and i cant bend my head over without it draining thru my nose and out of hole, I am sceduled to have FESS on Thursday and am concerned that this infection has spread to other parts of my body. I was on 1,000mg augmentin for 2 wks, didnt work, 850mg bioxin 2 wks, no help so now im on Septra. So i guess I asking how serious could this be and is it going to be ok that the dr. is not going to attempt closing off the hole. Thank you. This is the worse smelling anything Ive EVER experienced, please help

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Two parts. One is the overall structure of the sinuses and if there are pockets where gunk collects or breaks in the lining or loss of lining that is a problem. And the second part is the germ. Checking to see what antibiotics it is sensitive to is pretty easy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
