General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The treatment of choice for Hashimoto thyroiditis (or hypothyroidism from any cause) is thyroid hormone replacement.

The drug of choice is orally administered levothyroxine sodium, usually for life.

As your TSH value is 2.9 and your doctor is not responding, you should decrease the dose of Synthroid to 125 mcg and check your TSH again after one month.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
