I have Sarcoidosis in my lungs. My doctor has been treating me with Methotrexate 10 m.g. per week. He also gives me bactrin 3 times a week 20 mgs per time. How about a Cortozone shot? Would that help my lungs. I'm poor and am on SSI. I can't afford to pay you. Could you please give me some advice?
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic I can understand your concern. Sarcoidosis is inflammatory disease affecting lung. It is actually chronic lung disease in which lung parenchyma undergo fibrosis and thickening. So to prevent inflammation, anti inflammatory drugs are given. Methotrexate is one of these drug. But best treatment for sarcoidosis is corticosteroid. Oral corticosteroid is drug of choice for sarcoidosis and hence it should be started in all patients. So you should definitely start cortisone regularly (oral) and if symptoms are severe then injections are needed. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
