Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Intestinal Obstruction

I m just on here getting any kind of info I can before running to the store to get something for my current situation. I ve been experiencing abdominal & lower back pain for about 6 days now. I m having problems with bowel movements obviously & think I have an obstruction. I have never had any kind of constipation before so this condition is very unusual 4 me. I just had my annual check-up 9 days ago. I finally had my Doctor s nurse get back to me with a message & suggest drinking an entire bottle of Magnesium Citrate (I think - not Nitrate) & something about doing an enema. I ve never done any of these before so this is new & I was just trying to get some pointers & amounts before I go & see if I can get any of these. The pain is now more severe & constant for about the last 7 hours now. It used to ebb & flow before & I would get some relief for a while, but It s not going away anymore & whatever liquid or Milk of Magnesium is not working it s way through...

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
First, you should try with changing lifestyle and dietary habits. You need to increase fiber intake. Good fiber sources include bran and other whole grains found in cereals, breads, and brown rice, vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus, Fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes Beans. Also, you should exercise regularly. Moving your body will keep your bowels moving, too. Second, you may at times need to try a laxative such as Fleet Phospho-Soda, Milk of Magnesia, or glycerin suppositories. If there wont be improvement on these measures, you should consider doing diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy, anal sphincter manometry and food allergy testing.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
