Suggest Treatment For Abnormally High Blood Glucose Level
My friend says her brother s blood sugar reading was just now 595, & it was taken 3X. How long can his blood sugar stay like this &/or fluctuate that high before going into a diabetic coma, etc.? He can t control his blood sugar, he says, but is acting like he can just limit his sugar intake to get it back down on his own. Shouldn t he go to the ER with a 595 reading, however?

Sugar levels lower than 50 or 55 mg/dL is a true emergency and can lead to diabetic coma. High sugar levels kill silently. I advise him to go to physician, adjust his medications. Doctor may shift him to Insulin. So don't let himself killed by diabetes.
He can never lower this much high level only with diet. He needs prompt treatment. Otherwise he may die of heart attack, stroke and paralysis, kidney failure etc, just to list a few.
