Hi my son is twenty and has a very severe case of acne on face and back. ANTIBIOTICS has been offered for a while now and is unsuccessful. The doctor said he cannot do accutane because he needs to see him every two weeks and since my son is in college away from home we don t know how to proceed with that. Is there any solutions? such as blood tests somewhere else, does he really need to see same doctor so frequent?
Hello Thanks for the query. Acne can be managed will life style modifications and change in dietry habit along with use of topical antibacterial cream. Ask him to reduce oil intake and stop fast food. He should wash his face with a mild face wash three times a day and take steam twice daily. In addition he can use clindamycin gel in morning. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thanks.
