Docter my daughter is 2.4 years now and she s suffering from adenoid problem and from past three months we used metasparay nasal spray and after tht fr 3 more months we used free air nasal spray..now she is ok..Docter asked to give steam and montair LC kid tablet fr three months I heard tht if we use the tablet fr long time it causes memory loss is tht is true
I can understand your concern. There are a few studies done mostly in Australia which show that long-term use of Montelukast (one of the contents in Montair-LC) is associated with depression in kids.
However, the risk of this adverse effect is extremely low for eg. about 1 in a million and also is associated with use for a very long time eg. years together. Hence, I would not worry about this effect for a relatively short time use like for 3-6 months.
Apart from this, the her current line of treatment is ok and is working for her according to you. Hence, I would suggest you continue the same.
If at all she develops a lot of symptoms like nasal blockage and constant cold, she may have to be surgically treated.
Hope this answers your query. Wishing her good health.
Regards, Dr Geeta
