Suggest Treatment For Allergic Reaction To Hartz Flea & Tick Treatment

I had an allergic reaction to Hartz flea & tick treatment. I have bathed her in dawn dish soap and soaked her in a baking soda bath but I am still reacting. I was treated at the ER and given meds but we didn t know at the time it was the product. We suspected a new medication at the time. How can I neutralize the phenothrin?

Hello,

In general, phenothrin's are low in toxicity to people. However, if it gets on your skin, it can be irritating at the site of contact. If you have immediately washed your hands with large amounts of water and soap for at several minutes ,this is enough to neutralize the pesticide.

At the other side, if you still feel ant local or systemic allergic reaction to phenothrin, an antihistamine drug for a couple of days will be helpful to ease the symptoms. Anyway I suggest to consult your local physician, if the symptoms of allergies persist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
