Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My Fiance is 44 years old suffers from Angina and vision loss. I read vision loss can be permanent if not treated ? The doctors keep sending him home. He just had his license taken due to vision loss but does not seem to be getting any answers. No one has mentioned surgery. I am wondering if he is being treated vigilently by his Doctor.
HI THANKS FOR YOUR QUERY. FIRST OF ALL LET ME CLEAR ONCE FOR ALL THAT THE VISION LOSS HE HAS IS STRONGLY DUE TO HEART DISEASE.....VISION LOSS IN THIS CASE CAN BE REVERSIBLE IN MOST CASES.THIS IS KNOWN AS "AMAROSUS FUGAX"----TRANSIENT BLINDNESS. THIS CONDITION IS ARISES DUE TO REDUCED BLOOD SUPPLY TO RETINA AS A PART OF THE DISEASE PROCESS LINKED TO HEART. THE ANGINA HAS TO BE EVALUATED FURTHER,AN ECG IS HELPUL IN THIS EGARD. FURTHER HE NEEDS TO GET A"CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY"TO ASSSES HE QUALITY AND QUANTITY OF THE CORONARY VESSEL OBSTRUCTION. BASED ON THE RESULTS HE CAN BE REFERRED TO "PTCA PLUS CORONARY STENTING" AND/OR MEDICATINONS/CABG BYPASS WHICH CAN REDUCE FURTHER NARROWING OF THE VESSLS. SO I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO GET THESE INVESTIGATIONS.AND REFER YOURSELF TO AN EXPERT CARDIOLOGIST FOR FURTHER MANAGEMENT. THANK YOU
