Hello and thank you for being part of our virtual clinic!
Did you hurt your neck in gym, while exercising?
1.The most common causes of
muscle pain are tension, stress, overuse and minor injuries. This type of pain is usually localized, affecting just a few muscles or a small part of your body.
2.
Neck pain caused by muscle tension or strain usually goes away on its own within a few days and needs only conservative treatment at the most
3. Constant pain and
stiffness in the back of your nec may be present . You can’t turn your head side to side. The pain may also have spread to your upper back or shoulders.
4.After neck trauma, pain felt in the shoulder is coming from your neck. This is because the nerves and muscles that arise from your neck pass through your shoulder on their way down the arm. The nerves from your neck (Nerve Roots) also travel down your arm (via the
Brachial Plexus). Thus neck pain may extend down your arm.
If I were your family doctor, I would prefer
1. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs, including aspirin,
ibuprofen, and naproxen, may provide relief if your pain is caused by
nerve irritation or inflammation.
If pain persists
2. Oral
corticosteroids. A short course of oral corticosteroids may help relieve pain by reducing swelling and inflammation around the nerve.
If you feel the situation gets worse, please have an appointment at your doctor!
All the best and take care! doctor Juna!
