hi i am 55 years old lady weighing 75kgs. i have severe upper and lower back pain extending it to right thigh. my MRI report says i have L5-s1 disc shows posterior bulgee with a postero central herniation mildly indenting both traversing s1 nerve roots right more than left. please suggest cure. thanks.

Hi... what u have is intervertebral disc prolapse at L5-S1 level. MRI shows posterior bulge which a early stages of prolapse. things to do. 1) bed Rest for 3 days. 2)Avoid lifting weights, bending down, squatting. 3)Take pain killer( diclofenac 50mg twice a day) 4) physiotherapy- most heat, TENS and once the pain subside then start physiotherapy to strengthen the core back muscle and abdominal muscle. 5) If the pain doesn't subside in first 6 months with medication then steroid injection can be taken. 6) if the pain persists even after steroid injection and if the radiating pain is more than back pain then surgery(disc removal) is the next options. As of now start on non surgical management and physiotherapy the pain will subside.
