Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with a bacterial sinus infection. I have an antibiotic that was prescribed. I am to take them every six hours and need to keep the antibiotic at a constant level. Do I need to set an alarm at night to take it? I am not allowed to lay down for 10 minutes after taking the them.
As per your complain in case if you are allowed to take antibiotics every 6 hourly then you can set the schedule as 6 am- 12pm -6pm and 12 am..
Although a relaxation of half an hour or so can be neglected however it should not be delayed more than that..
With this schedule you will not hamper your sleep also..
Also along with taking antibiotics for sinus infection, to relieve the symptoms faster, you can also start doing steam inhalation, saline nasal irrigations, use a cool mist humidifier in your room.. If there is nasal congestion decongestant nasal sprays like Xylometazoline can help..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
