hi,
thank-you for providing the brief history of you.
since you have undergone the surgery for the L5-S1
laminectomy by now and still the pain is persisting then now you should look for a physical therapist. The major part of the issue is helped by the
spine surgeon. now looking ahead to control the symptoms and avoid it to become persistent you need to under go
physical therapy sessions.
the physical therapist may initially use the therapeutic
ultrasound and
TENS for the pain relief. which is proved by research as well.
post that the exercise will be directed to strengthen your core muscles and spinal muscles. also the lower limb muscles will be focused too.
exercise will help you with building up strength in the muscles which will help avoid any strain coming to the nerves. since L5 & S1 is the end part of the
vertebral column the whole body weight is borne by this region when you are sitting and even standing.
also with physical therapy most of my patient have received a reduction in symptoms and a long term recovery.
it will be a slow process and longer as well. bug keep patience during undergoing physical therapy as it will definitely be of help for you.
with the grace of God I wish you a speedy recovery
