You might be having an adverse reaction to Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin). Rarely in few patients it can cause problems as experienced by you including breathing difficulties and chest discomfort. Please talk to your doctor on phone or go to the emergency room. You may drink plenty of water and fluids to control the infection and may need another antibiotic to treat the urinary tract infection. Please do not take another dose without asking you doctor first.
