Suggest Treatment For Bleeding And Abdominal Pain After MVA

thanks i just had MVA(manual vacuum aspiration-Abortion) and i took primolut after the surgery for 4 days(doctors prescription in Nigeria). but the bleeding and abdominal pain started the following day after i stopped taking the drug. my doctor here in Nigeria who performed the surgery told me to start another primolut dosage. i feel the primolut is just suspending the blood flow but will most likely resume again after. kindly help

Hello,
If the abortion was complete, you can expect some bleeding to occur for at least a week after the procedure depending on the period of pregnancy. If the abortion is incomplete with some retained products, the bleeding will be persistent, possibly foul smelling if infection sets in, associated with the discharge of pieces of conception. In the latter case, diagnosis can be confirmed through a trans-vaginal sonogram and check curettage is done if the products are more; else, one can wait with medication for spontaneous expulsion. You can take an antispasmodic to relieve pain. Hope this helps.
