Suggest Treatment For Body Aches, Sore Throat And Fever

Hello Doctor, Tomorrow makes a week I ve been sick. First symptoms were body ache, headache, fever, sore throat and slight cough. Three days later body aches were mild headache gone fever has never gone higher than 101.5, throat was sore on left side only. Currently on day six I have a barking cough, low grade fever 99 my breathing is a bit labored and my throat is still a little sore. I tend to feel worse at night. I ve had a couple of coughing spells and my back (should blade) feels a little sore from all the coughing. Should I go to urgent care or let this run it s course?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have body aches, sore throat and fever which is due to viral infection / upper respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and take paracetamol . You should take throat lozenges and avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin in case of bacterial infection and combination with antiallergic medication Sinarest . Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get swab test, routine blood test and paranasal sinus x-ray done and start treatment after proper prescription.Doctor may also prescribe antiviral drugs in case of viral infection. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids and drink glass of warm water with one spoon of honey.
