Hello,
Thanks for writing in to hcm.
Very sorry to hear about it.
A massive
stroke with intracranial bleeding is a rare occurence but a very serious condition. As of now since she has been admitted in the hospital and the required treatment has started , it can give positive results.
During such conditions the intracranial pressure increases due to bleeding which is controlled by medications like manitol and craniectomy if required to bring down the cerebral oedema.
The doctor will try to keep blood pressure under control. Hoping that she will be able to tolerate the insult to the brain , usually within a month, if there are no further eoisodes of stroke or haemorrhage the patient starts recovering.
Recovery through supportive treatment like neurophysiotherapy is required after the critical period is over. It takes 6 months to two years to become near normal.
But being bold and encouraging the patient and being positive can do wonders to the recovery. You need to always boost up her confidence. Be by her side always .
I hope she fights this phase and aims towards recovery.
Believe in almighty .
Hope your query was answered.
Regards,
Dr.Riyanka
