Hello,

Oral contraception has a good index of protection from pregnancy but is not 100%. This is why any time there is an unusual bleeding a pregnancy test should be done first to rule pregnancy out.
If the pregnancy test is negative, you can repeat it again in 3-4 days and if negative again and the spotting goes on, then a gynecological visit is needed to have a pap smear (if you have not had one in the last year) and possibly the doctor will order a transvaginal ultrasound.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
