I swallowed a big piece of steak and felt it didn t go down all the way.. ever since I feel like I have a piece of something stuck in my throat, and it gets worse after eating, especially meats and such. My ent went down with a scope and says my esophagus is bruised. I m on a liquid diet right now but not having any relief from this stuck in my throat feeling. Is there anything else I can do, and how long will it take for the bruising to heal?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Bruising of esophagus is most probably due to sticking of big streak in the esophagus. Liquid diet with provide relief to the esophagus and help in resolving the bruising. Thus, the management for the condition is to give rest to the esophagus and allow time for healing of the esophagus mucosa. Kindly, ensure that there is no evidence of regurgitation because regurgitation can lead to inflammation of esophageal mucosa and thus can aggravate the symptoms. Stay in touch with your gastroenterologist for follow up and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
