Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I broke my right ulna on my lower wrist about two years ago. There is now a metal plate in my arm. Recently I ve noticed a swollen lump located almost directly over it. Also the part between my thumb and fore finger seems bigger than the other hand. I have been experiencing an ongoing and intermittent low grade fever (99.6 the highest) and I ve told doctors but they say that isn t a fever. But for 6 months? Doesn t seem normal to me because i had figured out my average temp is about 98.5. Also I can tell when it s elevated be I feel feverish and a little sick in general. Also my arm hurts when I use it for simple task such as washing my hair. I have pain in my arm as well as in the middle of my palm when I do such simple tasks. I ve told many doctors and have all but giving up. But I have had doctors say ya ya you are fine and then come to find I was far from fine. Very very far. I m not sure what to do but it is severely limiting my life and simple everyday tasks. Even typing this hurts. I m waiting to get an MRI. I had an x ray done by an ortho and he said the plate looked fine. I have a picture if that helps. Also it may be helpful to know the ortho said I have carpel tunnel. If you can offer any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. --kate

Hi,
The fever you have could be due to involved inflammation or pain and stress you get fore movement. Please consult an orthopedic surgeon. A methodical physical examination and needful investigations you would get expert advise that suits your sufferings in the form of medicines / injection / wrist splints or surgery in few cases.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
