Suggest Treatment For Cholesteatoma

My son is 5, has cholesteatoma in the right ear, but has been having ruptures & drainage in the left ear lately as well. He s going in for surgery on that ear Wednesday to either find nothing and celebrate, or find something and begin removal processes on that side as well. Tonight, however, we found a large lump behind his ear (kind of behind the skull) that s pushing his ear out. Any ideas!?

Hello

Thank you for trusting HCM

Dear he may be developed mastoiditis.

Mastoiditis is the result of an infection that extends to the air cells of the skull behind the ear. Specifically, it is an inflammation of the mucosal lining of the mastoid antrum and mastoid air cell system inside the mastoid process.

In some cases, mastoiditis may result in the development of a brain abscess or other complications involving your skull. The symptoms of these conditions include severe headaches and swelling behind your eyes.

Above conditions may need surgery. please consult your ENT surgeon he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
