I've had a chronic cough and low energy levels for about two weeks now. I can feel phlegm in my lungs; I can feel it when I breathe. Expectorants like Mucinex help temporarily, but it's back by the next morning. I'm wondering if it's not Walking Pneumonia, but I'm not sure if I meet all the symptoms for it.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. You are having chronic cough (cough for more than 2 weeks). So we should definitely rule out pneumonia and bronchitis in your case. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). Chest x ray is needed for pneumonia. PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis. You may need antibiotics, inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). Don't worry, you will be alright but first diagnose your self. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
