Suggest Treatment For Cold And Swollen Gland On Neck
I have had a bad cold and a swollen gland on one side. The cold was almost gone but the swollen gland remained. Now I have another cold starting. The doctor could not give me anything to help since it was considered Viral. Should I be seeing a doctor again about this swollen (and painful) gland on the side of my neck?
Hello and welcome to HCM, A clinical assessment is required to assess whether the swelling is due to enlarged lymph node or enlarged salivary gland. Painful swelling suggests infection most probably bacterial infection. Associated cold suggests that the swelling is also due to the same infection which has caused cold. Consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and treatment of infection. Treatment of infection will relieve the swelling as well as pain. If the painful swelling does not resolve, further investigation like aspiration cytology can be done.
