Suggest Treatment For Cold And Upper Respiratory Congestion

Have a stopped up eustachian tube in left ear (primarily) due to a severe cold and upper respiratory congestion. I can't hear much out of my left ear. I have some Polydexa ear drops which my pastor purchased for his stopped ear. His ear unstopped after use of this product. Is it safe for me to apply these drops in my ear without a doctor's prescription?

Hello,

No, it is not advisable to use those drops without consulting doctor. In my opinion, you should definitely consult ENT doctor and get done a clinical examination of throat and ear. You will need azithromycin (broad-spectrum antibiotic), levocetrizine (antihistamine) and paracetamol (anti-inflammatory). Do warm water gargles and steam inhalation four to five times a day. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid hard to chew food. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
