Suggest Treatment For Constant Itching Caused Due To Shingles

I ve had shingles for about 3 months. The blisters have cleared but I still am uncomfortable and I still feel nerve activity in my right side. And I continue to itch, although not severely. Someone recommended Cayenne capsules or ointment. I haven t been able to find them in stores so will have order online. That s a hassle b/c they want to sign you up forever. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The itching is completely normal after shingles. I suggest using antihistamines such as Cetirizine 10 mg daily. I also suggest Calamine lotion for local application at the lesions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
