I have cystic acne on my face, cheeks mostly and also behind my ears. They are extremely itchy. I try as hard as I can not to disturb them by scratching or picking. Although every morning when I wake up all I have to do is rub my face without much pressure and I find the cysts discharging. Some smell like fish, very unpleasant. Others have all kind of different smells, like cheese, salt and vinegar and even a salty smell. I have an appointment with a dermatologist coming up soon. I am a 28 yo male and have had these cysts for about 10 years. What is strange about these cysts is that they are quite small but seem to refill themselves overnight. What I am wondering is why they come only on my face? why do they come at all? and why do different ones smell different from each other. I can understand the blocked pores causing cysts to develop but I don't understand how they come to be behind my ears, on the ear lobes, almost in the middle of the ear lobe flesh. It all seems quite strange to me and I would love to know more about skin and how it works.
