Suggest Treatment For Depression And Uncontrolled Anger

My wife is 40 years old. She is in dipression mood frequently. Always shouted at me without reason when she suffered either by her office colleagues, neighbours, or relatives etc. At that time, she is out of control and abusing me in hard language not only me she treats her mother and sister etc whose she likes so much. Very next day she will become normal and talk with love and I opined that those incidents may not be in her mind later. She feel that nobody is with her and every body pointed out at her for her wrong attitude. Talking very rudely and she is getting angry in split of seconds in high. Please suggest. Yours sincerely. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sudden uncontrolled outbursts of anger commonly occur due to depression, anxiety, addictions, mental health problems, mistrust & low self-esteem.

She should visit a Psychiatrist or a Counselor. She needs to be physically examined, she needs medications (antidepressants, anxiolytics, etc).

It looks like she is suffering from IED(Intermittent Explosive Disorder), a medical condition.

This condition is associated with a recurrent aggressive outburst of anger, hostility or being impulsive.

Other condition that can cause this is Bipolar disorder, she needs the help of medicines, relaxation & behavioral therapy & anger managing counseling.

Her treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
