My husband was taking effexor for severe depression 150 for about 2 years as a result of going through a crisis of old age and losing his business. He was mellow on the drug, and functioning, but he did not like the side effects of constipation and vivid dreams. The psychiatrist began weaning him after 1 1/2 years - first to 25% less, then 1/2 and after a year to 1/4 and now for the last month - no more. He s very angry and nasty as a result. You can t talk to him, and he is always right - he thinks. He is 74 and we have been married for 49 years. He has never been easy to live with, but nothing like this - if anything, he tends to be quiet. He also is like the energizer bear now - always having to do something, and sleeping at least 4 hours less a night. He refuses to go back to the psychiatrist. What can I do or anytong?
