Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 22 yr old depressed grand daughter and not sure what she is taking for depression, maybe nothing. she has declined counseling at this time. I am encouraging her to seek help. what is your opinion on trans cranial electric current therapy and is it being used in the USA thanks elsie
She needs to be seen by a psychiatrist to assess the grade of depression and any associated symptoms. She needs to use anti-depressants as advised by a specialist. She may also need cognitive behavioral therapy to overcome her symptoms along with medication.
When all the other modes of treatment like I mentioned above fail, only then Trans cranial electric current therapy is advised. So please take her to a psychiatrist first as soon as possible. Any suicidal tendencies are to be spotted and treated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
