The person is in Depression.

He needs to get treated.

The treatment of depression is combination therapy with Lifestyle changes [Diet and Exercise], medications and Psychotherapy.

He needs to consult a Psychiatrist, who can assess if he has mild or moderate depression and based on that Counselling sessions are planned along with medications called Antidepressants.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards
