Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Patient is diabetic and has sneezing, no shortness of breath, no cough, and no chest pain. The diabetic had a bad cough one month ago and was on antibiotics. Now the patient has fine crackles in the left upper and lower bases. What would you think with this and what other exams should be done and what test should be ordered?
The fine crackles in the left upper and lower bases are indicating possible pneumonia. Should run chest x-ray anterior-posterior and lateral, plus bronchoscopy, and respiratory function tests.
Need immediate treatment with steroids, mucolytics, antihistaminics, and aerosol-therapy. Depending on tests results need to take respiratory pumps. Please proceed with neurologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
