Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Fever After Hip Replacement Surgery

Hello, My mother was in a rehabilitative center for hip replacement surgery . She had severe diarrhea & fever resulting in C. Diff infection. She was quarantined for several days (in a quarantined room). She said she didn t fully recover (for the hip replacement). She s in a walker now and has oxygen (from the other hip) from years ago, but it s on a moderate level of oxygen (not on low). She can hardly walk across the hallways of her independent living community. What are your recommendations?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may want to consider a chest x ray and blood test such as complete blood count. The complete blood count would be to rule out anemia as a cause of her shortness of breath. The chest x ray is to look for changes to her lungs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
