Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Recurrent Fever

My daughter had been sick for a while. Like a month ago she had massive diarrhea that lasted a week. My fiancé and I thought it was due to the teething. It went away but the week after she got fever, we took her to her pediatrician and she said she would be fine and gave us medicine, but she did not know what caused the fever. The fever did go away for a week and then it came back, that time we took her to the ER and they didn’t figure what caused the fever, they though it was viral but nothing for sure. It’s been a week since we took her to the ER and last night she started a fever again. My question is why does the fever come back every week or two? What I do?

Hi,

Fever at an interval of week or two is unusual and may be due to ongoing infection or new repeated infection. Ongoing infection is unusual as if the infection is there it will progress and the fever episodes will be for frequent.

Sometimes, fever can be there due to some unusual inflammatory conditions. You need not to worry if a child is otherwise doing well but I would suggest for thorough investigations like blood/urine and maybe chest x-ray.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
